I had more serious in depth theoretical political discussions while totally mashed yesterday evening (although in hindsight they were probably just awful over the top impassioned rants) than I have done in the last few months put together
I’ll never regret leaving the SWP, and I’ve got no qualms…
This. except there never was high levels of political discussion at the city wide meetings or party councils in particular largely just re-hashing and repeating the same things with the same speakers with full-time organisers strategically placed for the same old contributions and to nip anything new in the bud.
We should start an east london ‘revolutionaries discussing things in the pub’ thing so we don’t miss out!
To be honest I found branch meetings to be trying to pull back from pushing discussion to the next level any time we started riffing into new territory. Pub talk was always much more interesting.
Yeah pub talk is the best and people who don’t usually contribute in meetings feel comfortable to speak which makes for much more interesting conversations. And that’s where we recruited 99% of our group! Plus beer.
